CARE FOR YOUR WORK
PROPER AFTERCARE IS ESSENTIAL FOR SAFE HEALING AND THE BEST RESULTS. FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES BELOW FOR YOUR TATTOO OR PIERCING.
TATTOO AFTERCARE
FIRST 24 HOURS
Keep your tattoo covered for the amount of time recommended after your appointment. Once the covering is removed, gently wash your hands, then clean the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel and allow the area to breathe.
DURING HEALING
Gently wash your tattoo 1–2 times daily. Once dry, apply a very thin layer of the recommended tattoo aftercare product. Keep the tattoo clean and avoid excessive moisture.
WHAT TO AVOID
Do not scratch, pick or peel the tattoo. Avoid swimming, soaking, baths, pools, hot tubs and prolonged sun exposure while healing. Avoid tight or dirty clothing rubbing against the tattoo and do not apply perfumes or heavily fragranced products to the area.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Mild redness, tenderness, dryness, itching and light flaking can be normal during healing. Allow any peeling or flaking to come away naturally.
AFTER HEALING
Keep your tattoo moisturized and use SPF 30+ whenever it will be exposed to the sun. Good long-term skin care helps preserve the detail and colour of your tattoo.
IMPORTANT
If you experience severe or worsening pain, excessive swelling, spreading redness, unusual discharge, fever, or anything that concerns you, seek appropriate medical advice. If you're unsure whether what you're experiencing is part of normal healing, you're also welcome to contact me.
PIERCING AFTERCARE
CLEANING
Always wash your hands before touching your piercing. Clean the area as directed using sterile saline wound wash. Gently remove any softened buildup around the jewelry without forcing or rotating it. Pat dry with clean disposable paper.
DURING HEALING
Leave the original jewelry in place unless advised otherwise by your piercer or a qualified medical professional. Avoid unnecessary touching, twisting or playing with the jewelry. Keep bedding, clothing, phones and anything that regularly contacts the area clean.
WHAT TO AVOID
Avoid alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, harsh soaps, ointments and heavily fragranced products on the piercing. Avoid swimming or submerging the piercing in pools, hot tubs, oceans or other bodies of water while it is healing. Minimize pressure, friction and sleeping directly on the piercing.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Some tenderness, mild swelling, itching and light crusting can occur during normal healing. Piercings heal from the outside inward, so a piercing may appear healed before the inside has fully recovered.
JEWELRY
Do not remove or change your jewelry too early. If downsizing or changing jewelry is required, contact your piercer for guidance. Healing time varies considerably depending on the location of the piercing and your body.
